Speaking to over 6,000 students per year, CADV’s goal is to branch out throughout the tri-state area to educate students through DV assemblies. If you’re a teacher interested in having a meeting in your school, contact the office for booking information.
Executive Director Jim and Elsa Croucher have lived in Butler County for 35 years. Jim is retired from the State of Ohio, and Elsa has retired from the Middletown School District.
Their youngest daughter, Tina was murdered December 21, 1992 at age 18, by an abusive ex-boyfriend. Who broke into her family’s Middletown home and shot Tina as she was asleep in bed. Before turning the gun on himself. Four year’s after Tina’s death. As a result of Tina’s death, Jim and Elsa founded Citizens Against Domestic Violence in 1996. They do presentations for middle and high school students, college students, youth groups, ladies groups, churches, and other organizations, educating them to what Domestic Violence is, how it affects individuals, families, churches and communities, and how persons involved can be helped.
Mrs. Debra Culberson is mother of a murdered daughter. After an abusive relationship, Debra’s daughter, Carrie, disappeared. Her boyfriend is now in prison for murder. Debra speaks to Government organizations, Civic organizations, schools and businesses
Amy Jones is a survivor who narrowly escaped death after her husband made two brutal attempts on her life. After a third attempt, he was sent to prison for 30 years. Amy testified before the Ohio Senate and House subcommittees urging the passage of the bill that bears her name. Amy’s Law requires judges to use a risk assessment checklist before letting a domestic abuser out on bond. She appreared on Oprah Winfrey’s show in October, 2005. Amy speaks to schools, colleges, churches, and civic organizations.
Etta Caver is a minister, and a graduate of Miami University. She is a survivor, having been abused by an ex-husband and ex-boyfriend. Etta speaks to schools, colleges, youth groups, churches and corporations. She is the Victim Advocate for Middletown Municipal Court
Bridget Mahoney is a former Television News Anchor. While living in Youngstown, Ohio she anchored the evening news for WKBN-TV. No one suspected that she was also a victim of domestic violence. Divorce did not end the abuse and sadly its effects spread to her children.
Citizens Against Domestic Violence is a program which acts to promote an awareness of domestic violence and the damage it does to individuals, and to family, church and business relationships.
Citizens Against Domestic Violence seeks to educate through information and to implement services to those who desire freedom from violence/abuse. They also speak in Kentucky and Indiana.
