United Nations, New York, August 2009 – 21st Century (show 33) – Eight years after the fall of the Taliban, targeted violence against women in Afghanistan is back at an alarming level. Women of all ages are enduring brutal physical and sexual abuse in their own homes. A few lucky ones find their way to one of only six shelters in the country. We visited one of them.

“Breaking The Silence In Song” Theme Song Competition was created to bring more awareness to the fight against Domestic Abuse. Ellen Bukstel’s song “You’re Not Better Than Me” was chosen to represent the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence. Ellen Bukstel Performs her WINNING song to five Grammy Award Winning Judges: Darryl “DMC McDaniels, Warner Music Group’s Kevin Lyles, Cissy Houston, Michael Bolton and Ben E. King. The competition was held in New York City, April 7, 2008.
