How do men get away with domestic terrorism against women?

May 162010

"Clearly, the human and social cost of violence against women is staggering and that is precisely why full funding for VAWA is so critical. According to Stop Family Violence, research has found that VAWA has saved nearly $14.8 billion dollars in net averted social costs in its first six years. Even more importantly, studies show that rates of domestic violence and sexual assault have declined since VAWA was begun.

Personal violence is no less terrifying than political violence. Given the demonstrable benefits of VAWA, by comparison to the hundreds of billions spent on the War on Terror, $1 billion dollars would be money well spent."

That was in 2006. We’ve stopped terrorizing women since then. You must have missed it.

Why are feminists only concerned with violence against women?

May 132010

What would you think of white people were only concerned about violence against whites? Particularly when minorities are the biggest victims of violent crime on a percentage basis. Based on a racist theory that minority on minority crime is less important.

Feminists are only concerned with violence against women. How is this not sexism? Particularly when they ignore that men are the biggest victims of violent crime and that domestic violence goes both ways?
Laura,

With respect, you completely missed the point. This is not an attack on white people but a criticism of feminism.

Please try reading the second paragraph and then contact me if you are still having reading comprehension issues.
Tehabwa said:

"If your lie were TRUE, it WOULD be sexism. Since it’s a lie, your charge of sexism is completely bogus."

My response:
I guess you never heard of violence against women being a feminist cause then? What rock have you been hiding under all these years?

Even Asquared admits there is such a thing as the Violence Against Women Act (though she seems to think it is an organization).

The DV industry is a multi-billion dollar business. It’s built around the ‘women-victims/men-perps’ model and is used to siphon off federal funds to utilize to move more anti-male/pro-female laws, measures, grants, etc.

Speaking of men as victims and women as perpetrators would bring about an unforeseen cut in their funding. Erin Pizzey’s experience is an eye-opener. She got death threats for speaking for men who are victims, and that’s her only ‘mistake’.
