Why does some of the countries in the Middle East get so much heat for their abuse of women?

and not other countries like Mexico? In many of Mexico’s states, violence against women is still not considered a crime, and freedom of the press remains elusive. Journalists are a lot of times targeted and killed simply for telling the truth. Last year alone, Mexico had deaths of 10 journalists, according to the World Press. I wish that people know that abuse of women and lack of freedoms occurs in other countries as well. The governments in the Middle East and Mexico should be comdemed and taken to court and tried for their abuse.
I’m getting un-educated answers. Oh well. Anyways, so just because Mexico isn’t a Islamic country, its ok for Mexico to abuse women and freedoms?

The difference is that in Mexico, it is not State sponsored and sanctioned as it is in a country such as Iran. In Iran, the laws of the land MANDATE abuse and denegration of women.

Because in countries like the US. The government only want the public to know all of the negatives about cultures or countries, when they want the public to view them negatively.
They don’t tell us the negatives about countries they want us to see as "good", allies, or friends. UK, Japan, Mexico

Read some Orwell and you will find your answer. Countries unify under common enemies. By exploiting the differences and inequalities of certain countries we are socialized into considering them [overly] extreemist and evil. Us vs. Them. Islamic countries are constantly exploited for public support in the US, when most are completely unwarranted. As a liner note, most of these Islamic countries use us in a similar fashion.

The wording of your question doesn’t match the explanation. You should have asked why Mexico gets away with abusing women.
ME countries get a lot of heat because they abuse women, that part is simple. I’m not familiar with the situation in Mexico, if it is like you describe, they should face equal condemnation. IMHO, ME countries deserve a LOT more condemnation than they get. Any man who hits women isn’t a real man, just an overgrown bully.

Mexico is our neighbor and Mexicans make up a large part of ou nation. US politicians do not want to offend the hispainic population. When Clinton was President The government was giving China flak and was threatening trade sanctions. THey claim human rights violations like the treatment of Tibetans and Child labor. On the other hand they signed NAFTA to MExico. The government assasinated a presidential candidate adn several other politicians. THey had a genocidal war against the Indians in the south. They had severe child labor problem. I have been complaining here about Machismo by Mexicans here. I get a lot of thumbs down on the subject. Its a taboo to talk about. I think its wrong to tell what other countries culture should be like, even in the extreme of womans rights. I on the other hand am quite mad, when they immigrate here and bring their sexist culture with them. I had to help a friend file an EEO complaint against A mexican and A Philipino, because they could not have a woman supervisor and harrassed her to no end. I find it funny that liberals would preach tolerance of other cultures when they immigrate here, but never thought what some of these cultures could be like. I think that they should remember these kind of tolerance has its limit. I doubt they will disagree on womans rights, but they are often silent on this subject.

In Mexico, the women don’t have to have parts of their bodies removed because of the problem within the minds of men.
